Sugar snaps

Sugar snaps

Origin

Sugar snaps were originally developed in the United States by a plant breeder named Calvin Lamborn. Back in 1979, he found the cross between snow peas and garden peas to give an incredibly fine balance in taste.

He called them sugar snaps because they had the crispness of the pea and the sweetness of snow peas. This created a new vegetable for consumers.

For the Danes, sugar snaps are something that you have brought home from holiday. Countries in warmer climates have used this vegetable for many years and in several places it has become a fixture in many dishes.

We have been the only ones in Denmark to produce them since 2011.
