Edamame is one of the few vegetables that contains a generous amount of protein. That makes them a good alternative to meat. There is around 13g protein pr. 100g. edamame.

Antioxidants

Edamame some important antioxidants that helps the body to maintain a healthy immune system. Eg. Isoflavons. Additionally, edamame are anti-inflammatory. 

Dietary fibers

Edamame is a good source of fiber which can help to keep you full and regulate digestion

Vitamins

Edamame is good in vitamins such as A and C. 

Healhty carbs

Edamame contains healthy carbs that gives you energy without the rapid rise and fall in blood sugar.

Minerals

Edamame contains both iron and calcium. 

But what should I use the vitamins and minerals for?

Vitamin C is a necessity for our connective tissue and a daily intake of at least 75mg is recommended.

Vitamin K helps your wounds to heal.

Vitamin A strengthens your eyes and helps maintain good vision

Folate is necessary for the body to form red blood cells.

Ironis an important soldier for the body as it is needed to produce haemoglobin, which transports oxygen around the body. 

Phosphorus is important for bones and teeth to maintain them, as well as to build them.

Potassium helps to regulate the fluid balance and works for your blood pressure, as well as helping the nervous system, your muscles and heart to function.

Carotene is one of the body's antioxidants, which help to fight harmful substances.

Magnesium is good for the metabolism and thus helps to maintain the insulin level for diabetics with type-2.

So if you are looking for a vegetable that can help you maintain a healthy diet, peas are a good choice. They are easy to prepare and can be used in many ways in the kitchen, so you will never get bored eating them.
